About Us
Becky - Owner of Mama Natura
My name is Becky. I live in Tufnell Park in North London with my partner and our son, Finn (born September 2009), who's an energetic bundle of bouncing, dancing, fun mischief.
When Finn was born, I very quickly realised that using a sling to carry him about was comfortable, practical and very easy. Whilst it allowed him to feel safe, snug and secure it also gave me the freedom to get on with life. Using public transport, especially the Underground, with a sling is completely hassle free compared to the complicated and fraught experience it can be with a pram or buggy.
After struggling along with a sling bought from a department store, which was okay but not particularly comfortable, I was shown how to use a stretchy wrap by the wonderful Lynn Murphy on her 'Baby and Me' postnatal course at the Active Birth Centre in Archway. I bought a Kari-me, then discovered sling meets and the Natural Mamas forum, and from then on the sling addiction really took hold! Now that Finn is bigger we mainly use a variety of woven wraps including my partner's favourite, a Didymos Kobalt Rouge.
I have recently completed the basic course with Trageschule UK, and am now a qualified babywearing consultant/instructor. For more information about booking a consultation, please see the link in the menu bar on the left.
My experience of motherhood is what brought me to use slings in the first place and having got the bug I can now confess that I'm both a passionate advocate and enthusiastic user. I feel honoured to have the opportunity through Mama Natura to help others experience this amazing joy and discover all that the babywearing world has to offer.
